It’s been four years since we last saw Rue, Lexi, Jules, Cassie, and Nate, but finally, the wait is over. On April 12th, HBO is bringing back the drama with the third season of Euphoria, Sam Levinson’s mega hit that put glitter back in fashion when it first aired. But this third installment feels like something completely new: high school is long gone, and the characters aren’t teenagers anymore. Now, they’re facing the real, adult world and see themselves involved in drug trafficking, prostitution, and more. What’s in store for us?
Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Sydney Sweeney, Colman Domingo, Maude Apatow, Dominic Fike and Chloe Cherry are back on the small screen. And for the upcoming season, they’re joined by a new wave of incredible cast mates, including Rosalía, Sharon Stone, Natasha Lyonne, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, among others. So besides the radically different set where the series will take place, these additions are thought to keep things interesting, unexpected, and thrilling.
As the YouTube comment section notes, “This show went from a teen drama to GTA,” or, “This trailer feels like either I missed a season or is a whole new show.” Indeed, Sam Levinson’s vision for the third installment of Euphoria feels somewhat disconnected from the previous two. After all these years, we all knew the characters needed to be somewhere in the future and make their stories advance; however, not in our wildest dreams had we thought we’d seen Rue team up with a drug cartel, or Cassie making money on OnlyFans while also getting married to Nate. What parallel universe are we in? We shall discover in April, when the season will finally start.
