In the Summer/Fall of last year, D'Arcy toured with her She Wants Revenge, playing 40 shows across the US and challenging to bring her songs to the live stage on her own. It was then that we spoke to her in this article, coinciding with the release of her single The Best Of Me. Now, almost a year later, the singer releases her new song, baby I love you <3, which is fun and feels good. And that's all we need to welcome this weekend!
“For baby I love you <3 I asked my girlfriend to say something into my phone. She said, ‘baby I love you.’ Without thinking too much, I imported this sound file into my computer and within a few hours I had the song that you hear now,” D'Arcy says while acknowledging she has been struggling previously to figure out how to include her love of techno/house and DJing into her music that was otherwise relatively acoustic. A search that was further accentuated last year when she saw the audience’s reaction to what she was doing live, realising that this was more satisfying than anything she had done before.
“The more time I put into my own production, with just my computer and a keyboard, the more confident I am about this new direction and the more excited I am to make more electronic music.” The artist, who has played over 80 shows across the US, supporting bands like She Wants Revenge and Lee DeWyze, continues to find her place in the music scene, connecting with her fans and being honest with herself.
