Almost one hundred galleries from twenty different countries are showcasing some of the most interesting photographers – both past, present and future – at the fifth edition of Photo London, a fair taking place at Somerset House from May 16 to 19. With a section dedicated to Stephen Shore, a public programme with a special commission of Gavin Turk, a focus on three female photographers (Susan Meiselas, Rachel Louise Brown and Mary McCartney), and many more, this is a fair you must attend.
In just five years, Photo London has grown unstoppably. During the week, different exhibition inaugurations and book presentations have taken place – or are about to; for example, Dover Street Market will launch several today, like Jean Pigozzi’s books Charles and Saatchi The Dogs, Me + Co, and Pool Party, or Rottingdean Bazaar’s Paul Smith, a collaborative publication featuring re-interpretations of the Paul Smith stripe.
But the main focus is the fair itself. As usual, it will exhibit the talent of young emerging artists as well as that of more renowned photographers. Per usual, all categories or themes are included: portraiture, landscape, street photography, fashion, etc. Some of our favourites include Maisie Cousins, Albarrán Cabrera, Juno Calypso, Rad Husak, Saul Leiter, Elizabeth Gabrielle Lee, David Goldblatt, Silvia Lelli, Greg Gorman, Adam Jeppesen, and Nan Goldin, among many others.
