If you’re looking for new, emerging talent, you’re in the right place. Today, we introduce you to Marsaw, an up-and-coming producer hailing from Norway. After debuting with single Underwater Station (Safer) back in March, today he releases a new song, titled Don’t Wanna Know, which keeps paving the road towards success and giving us clues of what his sound is like. Even though this is the artist’s second song, he has already revealed that they’re going to be part of a bigger project: an EP.
Born Martin Sawyer but working under the moniker Marsaw, the Norwegian artist is starting his musical career by crafting a sound within the electronic genre but that is influenced by others like R&B and African rhythms. In fact, Don’t Wanna Know starts with a percussion reminiscent of those African roots, and it later incorporates soulful, velvety R&B vocals that are also wrapped in a bass-driven electronic melody, making it a genre-bending song. A statement to Marsaw’s eclectic background.
Both this single and his previous one will be included in his forthcoming EP, titled Paroxysms, whose narrative arc will be divided into three distinct yet cohesive chapters where the artist blends his African and European roots through different sounds. Speaking of the project, he says: “Each track within this project is a testament to my journey of self discovery and reinvention—a sonic reflection of the person I am today and the artist I aspire to be. It's not just about the music; it's about embracing authenticity, embracing growth, and embracing the freedom to create without boundaries. This project is my declaration of independence—a bold step forward into a future where I am unapologetically myself.” There isn’t an official release date yet, so in the meantime, you can listen to Don’t Wanna Know.
