Maison Martin Margiela and H&M presented a divine union of art and commerce with last week’s unveiling of their fashion collaboration at 5 Beekman Street in New York City’s financial district.
Around one thousand very well dressed guests and a number of celebrities filled every floor of the historical nine-story atrium building, where a new surprise was to be found around every corner. Dancers were outfitted in re-editions of avant-garde Margiela minimalism and choreographed by the famed Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, twisting and contorting their bodies atop squares covered in sand. Among the clothing and accessories were deconstructed denim jackets and jeans, woolen peacoats and capes, bra printed bodysuits, Plexiglass heels and oversized candy wrapper clutches.
The Maison Martin Margiela with H&M Collection hits stores November 15th in 230 locations worldwide.
