Nicolas Ghesquière's latest Spring/Summer 2025 collection for Louis Vuitton, presented at the iconic Cour Carrée du Louvre, is finally here: a bold exploration of contrast. The show, which concluded Paris Fashion Week, was a visual spectacle, with a runway built from over a thousand trunks that paid tribute to the Maison's travel heritage.
A star-studded audience, including Zendaya, Cate Blanchett, Ana de Armas, and Lisa, gathered at the venue to witness Louis Vuitton’s latest showcase. Under the creative vision of Nicolas Ghesquière, Artistic Director of women's collections, the collection was a masterful interpretation of "soft power," with the concept serving as the driving force behind the bold and elegant designs. Vibrant, 80s-inspired prints and voluminous silhouettes contrasted with structured tailoring and fluid femininity. Feathered pumps, flowing handkerchief skirts, and exaggerated power suits created a sense of motion as fabrics billowed and shimmering details caught the light with each step.
Each piece was designed to evoke movement, from the silky fabrics and layered skinny scarves fluttering as models walked down the runway to the feathered pumps that swayed with every step. In a nod to Louis Vuitton’s rich history and timeless designs, the runway was constructed from stacked trunks featuring the iconic LV monogram in classic brown tones, alongside colourful limited-edition hues. This patchwork effect echoed the contrasting silhouettes on display, described as retro-futuristic, with exaggerated '80s shoulders, power suits, and oversized tailoring paired with feminine draping, flowing skirts, and boho-inspired platform sandals.
A standout element of the collection was the collaboration with artist Laurent Grasso. His surreal art, inspired by his Studies into the Past series, added a captivating layer to several pieces, enriching the collection’s theme of blending eras. Ghesquière successively juxtaposed retro-futuristic elements with timeless elegance, seamlessly weaving the past and future together. Through this collection, Ghesquière masterfully balanced structure with softness, pairing sharp tailoring with delicate details. His vision, embodied in these designs, was one of contrast and harmony—a celebration of femininity that is both powerful and fluid.
