Enfants Riches Déprimés, the fashion world's provocateurs, struck again with their Spring/Summer 2025 collection. In a stark departure from the glitz and glamour of traditional runway shows, ERD presented a raw and unwavering critique of societal norms.
Through deconstructed designs adorned with antique silver, bronze, and silk, ERD picked none other than Sotheby's Parisian headquarters to challenge the suffocating forces of capitalism, societal norms, and the worship of wealth and youth—a critique of a money-orientated world inside a money temple. Harsh silhouettes, raw seams, and self-binding details evoked a sense of constraint and repression. Yet the opulent materials used in the collection symbolised the emptiness of excess, while the youthful, skin-baring pieces confirmed and enticed the fever dream of capitalism; it even makes you feel like a time traveler looking at the collection.
Platform heels, tailored suits, and layers created a disassociated vibe, while leather jackets and pants added a punk euphoria to the runway in addition to the clear BDSM elements, like a look extracted straight out of one of the most iconic scenes in the movie Secretary; we'll let you guess which one. The closing look—a Victorian-era corset dress paired with a cage-like bag containing a mouse—was a haunting and thought-provoking commentary on the collection's themes.
