The first time we spoke with Josh Lumsden was one year ago on the occasion of the release of his single Oh My God, and at that time we realised that the artist liked to be in complete control of his whole artistic project, coordinating, directing, and designing everything from the covers of the albums to the music videos. Today the Mexican-American surprises us with the release of his new track, Everybody Wants to Feel Good, which comes along with a music video directed by himself that will not leave you indifferent.
The artist has gone ahead with the release he had planned even though today's context was not as expected, as he shared with his followers on social media. “When I scheduled the distribution date last month, I was 100% sure that things would be different and the climate of the community would be filled with joy. I was wrong, and I’ve wrestled back and forth these last two days with the rollout of this project.” However, he is determined that the political landscape, no matter how bleak it may be, should not affect artistic projects that contribute to forging a community based on diversity, respect, and human rights.
Everybody Wants to Feel Good is a European techno-driven inspired single laced with soaring falsetto vocals that is accompanied by a music video that features Lumsden stationary on a large mound of sand. As the music intensifies, the mound changes form as life around it begins to flourish as quickly as it decays. While Lumsden sings and DJs on, he himself eventually begins to decay and disintegrate in the final frames. “All come from dust, and all return to dust.
