After releasing his debut album every•thing•a•part last Friday on his own label, The Big Oil Recording Company, now it's time to premiere SATNAV's new video for his single Sky Burial. Producer and label owner Sebastian Zieler, aka SATNAV, surprises his audience with a visual piece full of stimuli, action, and movement, continuing to draw us into the sonic and creative universe he has created with his latest project, an album that mixes folk and pop melody with avant-garde electronic experimentation, spontaneously composed and meticulously produced.
“It’s a series of lamentations and love songs for nature, a climate grief concept album where thinking machines remember and mourn the loss of a world once alive,” the Danish experimental electronic producer shared on his social media on the day of the release. Inspired by climate grief, his new concept album, every•thing•a•part, is released with a 360 VR journey exploring the cycle of life and death, perception and sensory categorisation, at once violent, beautiful and serene in feeling.
Today we are premiering SATNAV’s collaboration with 3D animator and musician Joakim Moesgaard, set to the track Sky Burial. Unlike any other VR artwork, this explores eight separate “lives” in rapid succession. It is designed for exhibition, but you can also experience it here on YouTube. With this multisensory experience that comes along with the trance-inflected ecstatic longing of Sky Burial, the artist continues to show us that his artistic cosmos combines the visuals and the sound masterfully. Making the music he would like to make right now, SATNAV traces his own path in the music scene with a very strong personal identity.
