Singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist Olive – Olivia Handler – and producer, engineer, vocalist, and songwriter Harrison – Harrison Forbes Schneider – are not afraid to talk about the most important life issues. Making music a way to address the most transcendental topics of existence such as self-knowledge, self-confidence or the importance of being oneself and feeling free, Olive + Harrison, the whimsical indie-pop-meets-experimental-hip-hop duo, now releases its new single and music video, Normal, See? This is a raw and unfiltered track depicting the dark side of mental health struggles and depression.
“I hope Normal, See? can shine a light on how theatrical and absurd our performance in daily life can be. The social fabric that holds our entire first world civilization together is a house of mirrors, and when that is the reality we’ve all agreed upon – I imagine the most frightening mirror is the one that reflects us as we are,” Harrison replies when asked about the powerful meaning behind their latest single.

The release begins with haunting piano chords, fanciful vocals cleverly paired with frenetic hip-hop beats and sharp rap verses swiftly delivered by Harrison for an unconventional sonic journey. And the single demonstrates the good harmony between these two brilliant creative minds, who first joined forces in 2015.

Letting go of predetermined boundaries in their creative process and giving shape to a musical project with intention, an increasingly rare quality you can not only hear but can feel, the artistic duo wanted this song to come along with a music video. The visual piece mirrors the single's intense and erratic narrative coupled with horror film-inspired imagery and shows they take care of every detail to achieve a complete and coherent result.
