If you haven’t heard of Odhran Murphy yet, write his name down now. The Northern Ireland rising star is set to become your new obsession if you’re into acoustic and folk music — and you know you need some peaceful, feel-good tracks in your playlists, even if it’s from time to time. Well, Odrhan is the perfect addition. Today, we’re here to discuss Angel of Mine, a new single off of his upcoming EP, where the singer-songwriter opens up about diving head first into love without fearing the consequences.
Speaking of Angel of Mine, Odhran shares: “It’s a fearless leap into love with no backup plan — this song is about giving someone everything, knowing the fall could break you, but loving them enough to risk it all.” I mean, give it to an artist to romanticise that thrilling yet paralysing feeling of falling head over heels for someone, being well aware that that intense feeling can result in an injured, broken heart. But we only live once and the risk is worth it, isn’t i?
Born and raised in Northern Ireland’s County Armagh, surrounded by greenery and mythology, Odhran Murphy draws inspiration from his environment, upbringing and culture to write and produce music, which he’s been into since a very young age. Angel of Mine is another testament of that. Ahead of the release of his EP, with a launch date yet to be confirmed, Odhran is paving the way to become a global star. To get started, he’ll be doing a live show on May 13th at Camden Assembly, putting his audience to the test after releasing a handful of singles, including Kerosene and Close to You, which have almost garnered four million streams on Spotify altogether.
