After a few months of relative quiet, MIN-t returns with Hope, a new single that opens the next chapter of her project. Less than a week after the track first arrived, the Berlin-based artist unveils today the official music video. The single also offers the first glimpse into a forthcoming album expected in May, following This Thing About Us and giving an early indication of where her work is heading.
Behind the moniker MIN-t is Martyna Kubicz, a singer, songwriter and producer originally from Poland who has been based in Berlin since 2015. During that time, she has gradually developed her practice across songwriting, production and performance, building experience on stages across Europe. She has performed more than three hundred shows, including appearances at music events such as Reeperbahn Festival, OFF Festival, Open’er Festival and Orange Warsaw Festival, and has supported artists including HVOB, Angel Haze, Jess Glynne and Vitalic.
The release of Hope also highlights the increasingly self-sufficient nature of her creative process. The track was written together with her sister, Patrycja Kubicz, while MIN-t handled production and mixing herself, with mastering by Conor Dalton. “The song Hope is not a simple story about believing that everything will be okay. In these difficult times, trust in the world cannot be rebuilt with empty slogans. Superficial empathy only camouflages inaction,” the artist comments “True hope is an effort. It grows out of experiences of loss or failure. It awakens anger — and that anger drives us to act,” she concludes.
Last week, she also shared her excitement online, writing: “It is really something big for me! My self-produced, mixed and engineered project of my 3rd album! How cool is that?” With Hope, and now with the release of its official music video, MIN-t begins to outline the emotional tone of the music she will be sharing in the coming months.
