“Do not be ashamed because the true loser is the cheater!,” this is how Matilde G presents her new and powerful single, Hypocrite, out today. Many people have suffered after finding out that their partner was cheating and although it is an extremely painful feeling, the singer has decided to transform that pain into something else, in order to become stronger.
We spoke about her after she released her pop anthem Digging For Diamonds, Matilde G has returned with a renewed style and a more mature version of herself. Hypocrite has a strong message about young people in relationships. It speaks from an intimate perspective “This song is about a guy who cheated on me,” she explains and adds “Am I the victim of a hypocrite guy? The cheater is a victim of himself and his lies.” With pop sounds and nods to rock and roll, the singer turns these feelings of heartbreak into an ode to strength.
Produced by Black Bird Production, the music video was filmed in Singapore. The hypocrisy is represented by a mannequin, but at the same time we can see dancers with their faces covered by masks, as if she wanted us to understand with this detail that we can never really know a hypocrite. Behind the lyrics and the music video, there’s a narrative that exudes strength and determination by not letting yourself get hurt by something that is not your fault.
