Swedish electronic artist Karin Park begins a new chapter today with the release of Sing Your Sorrow, a new single paired with a music video. The track offers the first glimpse of EVO, an EP set for release on May 8 via Size Records, and the opening instalment of a broader project titled EVO-LUT-ION-(EN). Conceived as a trilogy of interconnected releases, the series marks the start of a new creative phase for the singer, songwriter, and producer.
Sing Your Sorrow is about wanting to take someone else’s sorrows upon oneself to relieve them from suffering. I wrote this for my daughter Lydia.” With these words, Karin Park introduces the emotional core of her new release. Built around spacious electronic pop textures and her distinctive voice, the song unfolds with a quiet intensity that feels both intimate and cinematic. It sets the tone for the project that follows, where vulnerability and atmosphere shape the world of EVO.
Released alongside the single, the official video directed by Simon Silverdahl expands the atmosphere of the track visually. The film transforms familiar landscapes into something dreamlike and romanticised, echoing the reflective mood of the song. Reflecting on the collaboration, Silverdahl says: “There’s a rare magic in working with a true artist where the ideas just flow. We took our local roots and turned them into a romanticized piece. It was effortless, inspiring, and pure joy.”
Recorded in 2024 with French producer Anthony Belguise, EVO brings together darker electronic textures with the synth-driven sound that has long defined Park’s work. The project marks a more personal phase for the artist, who stepped away from recent collaborations and from her work with the noise rock band Årabrot, which she fronts with her husband, to focus on her own songwriting.
