The old-school rhythms along with certain experimental tones of house, techno and acid, make Cromby a multidisciplinary artist you don’t want to miss. He presents his fifth EP, Potency005, a project very different from anything he has done before.
His latest release, out today, promises a musical evolution, pushing his sound into a darker place while still maintaining his characteristic acid lines and dance floor focus. His own label, Potency, started in 2020 with the debut of Shake It, which captivated an audience fully engaged in his career. This has led him to participate in globally recognised clubs and festivals such as Berghain’s Panorama Bar, The Warehouse Project, and Boiler Room. He has also toured the United States, Asia, and all Europe.
This EP demonstrates that Cromby’s musical journey knows no bounds. This time, he explores an experimental and raw sonic landscape with three unconventional yet highly infectious tracks. Get ready to dance to them in the club, as myself I’m already throwing a party while writing all of this. Potency005 features synthesizer sounds around the 303 tones that mark the distinctive rhythm of each song.
It begins with Viper, which I dare say is the darkest and most somber proposal, although as it progresses, new sounds are added, providing much more dynamism. It is followed by Moods, which starts strong with a techno beat that transports you to a restless and uncertain landscape. It’s important to highlight the ending, where, although the melody is the same as in the beginning, there is an interesting play of bass. It ends with Mystical, the most positive and energetic track, but also the one that adds more sonic layers, bringing a certain depth to the theme with the synthesizers. It’s now available in digital and vinyl, so discover it for yourself.
