Taking inspiration from 70's disco and funk, infusing witty lyrics with heartfelt, raw, and emotive storytelling, Charles' just-released EP, Gorgeous, Sick & Tired, is an outstanding exercise that radiates a very special energy. From Lucky Star to Hearts On The Run and Fantasize Me, among others, the artist delves into love, heartbreak, and the trials and tribulations that have made him the man he is today through the nine tracks that make up this new project. “Thank you to everyone who has been a part of bringing this EP to life; it’s my proudest work yet,” he shared on his social media a few hours ago.
“Right on Time is a piece of my story, a reminder to myself that I deserve to be here, to be happy, to love, and to move forward. When I was a kid, I went through a dark time that turned my whole world upside down,” Charles tells about the story behind the lead track. “Since then, I always felt like my life was slipping away from me, like I could never really catch up. That feeling stuck with me for years, making me believe I didn't deserve the things that should have felt natural—happiness, success, love,” he adds when asked about this very special track, which came together on a grey day in Manchester with The KTNA, where Millie and Hope created a space where he felt safe enough to share his truth, to dig into that pain and find some light.
Having been making waves in London's underground music scene and always taking a keen interest in neo-soul, R&B, and funk genres, Charles not only continues to develop his musical project but also his personal creative universe in which design and fashion play a fundamental role. He has collaborated and performed with high-end brands such as Gucci, Emporio Armani, and YSL, and his latest EP cements the rising musician as a significant name emerging in the music scene.
