Music and fashion have always formed a close relationship, but this time we are witnessing a new dimension of this link. The queen herlsef has entered Oliver Rousteing's design studio, Balmain's Creative Director, to create a collaborative couture collection inspired by each of the songs on her latest album Renaissance. Sixteen unique models that fuse house, electro and funk sounds with avant-garde silhouettes, innovative techniques and precious materials.
The architect of this proposal, Oliver Rousteing, says that Beyoncé's seventh solo album had inspired him to the point of almost overwhelming him when he listened to it, which is why he started designing clothes inspired by the spirit of the album and the singer. This impulse led the Creative Director to contact Beyoncé and her stylist Marni Senofonte to present them with the idea of creating a couture collection together. A proposal in which the Balmain codes are imprinted and which celebrates the legacy of queer culture and house music.
The collection has a futuristic air, full of sparkling glamour, where avant-garde and sculptural silhouettes follow one another with darker garments, filled with details such as feathers, lurex and crystals. We find a great variety of shapes and materials, in which two pieces in collaboration with different artists stand out, the impressive metallic bodice by sculptor Elie Hirsch and the dress made of a mix of silk, rayon, velvet and patent leather, woven by French artist Laurentine Périlhou.
The culmination of this collaboration is the look inspired by the song Summer Renaissance, an intricate silver short dress made of lurex fringes, crystals and rhinestones with a matching cape and wig, an exquisite translation of the album into garments characterised by Balmain's savoir-faire and the spirit of community, camaraderie and collaboration that resides in Renaissance.
