Before saying goodbye to this week, today we highlight bast's latest single, PHASE. This new track is the second release from her upcoming EP and was produced by Mark Jackson and Ian Scott. The song, which continues to give us clues about where the artist's sound is headed and what we can expect from her in the upcoming months, comes along with a music video art directed by Peter West whose creative direction has been led by the singer herself.
“Every moment in life is a phase, hopefully getting closer to fully actualising who we really are on the inside. But it's lined with this fear of ‘Am I actually getting further away or losing touch with myself?’” bast says when asked about the starting point and the meaning behind her new track, before throwing more questions to the audience with which many of us can identify with. “Is this what it feels like to grow up? Why is age so relevant to a person’s worth and influence? My biggest fears stem from fading out, being pushed aside, being forgotten for something shinier.”
With more than ten thousand monthly listeners on Spotify and singles that exceed one hundred and fifty thousand streams, bast continues to shape the next chapter in her musical adventure. “Being forgotten for something shinier and so we wrote about that lil fear,” she adds of this latest release, PHASE, which is extremely catchy. You can now watch the music video that comes along with the track on YouTube.
