It’s been six years since the British band These New Puritans didn’t say a word. Well, technically, they did when they launched the song Into the Fire back in November 2018. And now, they’ve just launched Into the Rose, a music video for the song whose title is the same as of their upcoming album, set to be published on March 22. Directed by Harley Weir, it transports us to a surreal, erotic, and suggestive world populated by gods and goddesses. Do you want to join them?
These New Puritans published their latest album, Field of Reeds, in 2013. And until last November, there was no clue about their whereabouts. Now, we do, and we even have more information: the four-member group is turning into a duo, formed by the twin brothers Jack and George Barnett. Will this affect their live show? Probably, but you’ll have to wait until early-April, when their first concerts take place, to know – they’re starting the European tour in Germany.
What is certain is that their new music video, Into the Rose, is so visually striking and poetic that we’ve already forgotten the wait. Set in a red-dominated atmosphere (are we actually ‘into the rose’, as the song says?), the main characters, who’re actually gods and goddesses, dance around – under the water, on a dancing pole, on a pile of powder –, swim together, and live happily naked. A combination of beauty, rawness, elegance, and the director’s personal artistic trademark.
