After years of shaping and infusing UK’s music industry with her distinct vision from behind the scenes — collaborating through her songwriting and vocal talents with respected names such as Wretch 32, MNEK, Idris Elba, and Stormzy — Tanika is finally stepping into the spotlight; and she’s doing so with power. After millions of streams accumulated alongside her name, the London-born singer-songwriter is now building her own community and making her presence known to a wider audience. Following the release of her 333 EP, Tanika returns with Fast Fwd, a hypnotic, summer-drenched anthem featuring Kida Kudz and produced by hitmaker Naughty Boy, whose credits include names such as Beyoncé and Sam Smith.
Born in her bedroom on Fiveways Road, Brixton — a place that, in the ’90s, was marked by violence and social unrest —, Tanika found solace in music early on, escaping from the challenges of her upbringing through the arts. She crafted both her taste and career from an young age, to eventually become a key creative force behind some of the UK's most beloved songs: belonging to artist such as Sam Smith, Ella Eyre, and Emeli Sandé. Her name may be new to some, but her influence surely isn’t.
Now, with Fast Fwd Tanika delivers a moment of serendipity and nostalgia wrapped in energy. The track, born from an emotional moment and a near decade-later reunion with producer Naughty Boy, brings us a sultry, R&B infused rhythm that begs to be danced to. With this release, Tanika leaves us with a sweet aftertaste and a strong reminder of the force she is, and always has been. Her voice, her pen, her presence; Tanika proves she’s someone we want to hear, and see, much more from.
