After working with well-known labels such as Spinnin’ Records, Fool’s Gold, Mad Decent, and currently MNRK Music Group, Cam Tatham’s journey as Sleepy Tom now opens a new era. The Vancouver-based producer has just released The Rush EP, including six songs that he admits being very proud of, featuring some truly amazing artists such as Cadence Weapon, Thandi Phoenix, and Fur Trade, among others. Let's welcome the new project of the artist who finds inspiration in the music he also listens to, citing artists like The Avalanches, Jungle, The Weekend, and Breakbot, to name a few.
“I wish I had something more insightful to say, but the song process is what it is—sometimes easy, sometimes hard, and sometimes boring,” told Sleepy Tom on his social media two weeks ago, sharing some comments and reflections on his new work that had just been revealed. “That's not me being negative, just real! I am always proud of myself (and everyone else making art) for finishing a project. It’s all I really strive for—to keep making songs I care about.”
The Rush EP is filled with good vibes and features standout collaborations that add an extra dose of excitement. "The original demo for The Rush was titled Burning—likely because it was written in mid-July when my apartment reaches 35 degrees Celsius. I sent it to Thandi after hearing her song Hot Sauce—I sense a theme here—and her vocals fit effortlessly!” he replies when asked about the lead single The Rush, in which he joins forces with Thandi Phoenix and Manga Saint Hilare. “After rearranging a few parts, there was room for a rap verse. Manga smashed it, completing my most international track to date. Commonwealth, stand up!”
