A techno rave in the woods with blue-haired witches? Count us in! Summon your best friends, prepare some potions (aka cocktails), and watch Sita’s spellbinding music video for Diabla, her new single, out now. Starring Spanish powerhouses like Rossy de Palma, Lola Rodríguez, and Brays Efe, the video directed by Francesco Calabrese is a horror-themed fantasy where magic, religion, oppression and the Devil herself merge into one.
It all starts when an innocent peasant gives birth to a blue-haired baby. Set in a past time where the Church was the most powerful institution in Spain, she’s quickly persecuted as a child of the devil. But she’s taken in by a wise woman who raises her righteous. “When the world is against you, the only way to be safe is to be kind,” Rossy de Palma’s character tells to a seven-year-old Sita. Living on societal margins as an outcast, she meets other misfits who live life by their own rules and at their own pace, freely, and create a coven based on friendship and adoration for the same Goddess. Things go awry when they get caught, but you can’t never underestimate the powers of a witch…
Mixing hard beats and whispered lyrics, Sita’s new track sounds like the spell a DJ would play in one of Berlin’s sweatiest, darkest clubs. “Me siento diabla / tú eres el delincuente / mordiste la manzana / el veneno eternamente” (“I feel devilish / You’re the criminal / You bit the apple / Its poison eternally”), she sings lustfully.
