The Berlin-based brand has managed to create a solid aesthetic that fits the taste and needs of the newer generations through a constant exploration of wearable deconstruction, unique combinations of fabrics and silhouettes, and statement pieces that have become a must-have for cool people. This season there’s a sense of maturity to it, with classic garments being passed through the Ottolinger filter, resulting in the dream collection for the corporate girls with a strong sense of style and desire to express it at all times, including from 9 to 5. Photographer Erwan Filidori captured the unique vibe of the show, where range and versatility are made manifest.
Swiss-born designers Christa Bösch and Cosima Gadient are two of the few female creative directors currently in the industry, and that is evident in the type of clothes they make. They clearly understand and provide what women want, and this collection confirms it. For this season, there was a need to empower women, not in an imposed, almost costumy way, but in a very natural, logical style. There is no doubt that wearing a good piece of tailoring makes us feel good, confident, and even more grown up, and these garments—the blazer, the ties, the button-up shirts, and the suits—were the starting point here. From there, the creative expression of Ottolinger was made manifest in the form of cuts, twists, deconstruction, and mix-and-match.
The material and colours play a part in it as well. Corporate greys were interrupted by bright greens and yellows and combined with classic black and white. Textiles linked to women (rather than to girls), like tweed and fur, were included in a playful way, turning something formal and stiff into an attractive and fun display of personality.
