Master Peace hails from the UK, bringing summer heat and energy in his new single Home, a collaboration with the American rapper Wale. The track arrives on the heels of Master Peace’s announcement for a UK and EU tour kicking off this October, solidifying the career advancements that have been happening for the artist in the last year. Home is a track from his forthcoming EP, How To Make A(nuva) Master Peace, which will be released on October 4th via PMR Records.
Home has the fingerprint of a summer favourite through its blending of Master Peace’s indie roots and Wale’s distinct rap. The track channels an upbeat, nostalgic feeling that reminds of long warm nights, friends new and old, and the slight twist of sadness that comes when moments together inevitably conclude. The song narrates the story of a night out filled with desires, love, and uncertainty. A longing for connection, the thrill of the moment, and the reluctance to leave are clearly expressed, with emotions ranging from excitement to contemplation bubbling to the surface. The track works to capture the essence of living in the present moment and seeking companionship, with the repeated refrain “Don′t wanna go home” emphasising the reluctance to part ways.
Peace Okezie, Master Peace’s real name, grew up in Surrey and was strongly influenced by indie bands like Bloc Party, The 1975, and Arctic Monkeys. His formative years were spent at house parties and raves with close friends, and those experiences continue to inspire his music. Master Peace’s achievements were recently recognised as a Rising Star by The Ivor Novello Awards, acknowledging him in the UK’s new wave indie scene. He has released three EPs, and his debut album, How To Make A Master Peace, came out last March, receiving praise from outlets like Rolling Stone, Dazed, NME, The Line of Best Fit, and Clash, setting the stage for his next steps to take him even further.
