Bianca Scout and Martyn Reid, aka Marina Zispin, have just presented their haunting new release, the double A-side single The Bells/The Tudors, on Scenic Route. The Newcastle and London-based artists, who have been transforming everyday moments into mesmerising anthems that blur the lines between fantasy and reality for six years with their musical project, having garnered a reputation for their ethereal blend of melancholic storytelling and sound, now reveal these two songs in a double single, which were recorded in early 2024, showcasing their signature fusion of emotive and transcendent soundscapes.
After having released their Life And Death—The Five Chandeliers Of The Funereal Exorcisms EP in 2023, Marina Zispin now releases two new tracks, The Bells/The Tudors, reflecting on the passage of time, developed initially as instrumental sketches and completed just before their autumn tour. “Happy Halloween, Marina Zispin dropped their double single,” they said a few days ago from Scenic Route, founded in 2017 as a club night and evolved into a dynamic label. This new release offers spectral sounds that guide us through the season's twilight, inviting us to drift through spaces where time and memory converge.
While The Tudors evokes the ghostly echoes of public executions and tales of manipulated faith, with dark and historical undertones, The Bells meditates on reintegration after a period of isolation, reflecting on time's fragility for those facing neurological challenges and evoking a profound sense of respite and reflection. The tracks complement each other perfectly and are out now on all streaming platforms. Beyond the Marina Zispin musical project, Bianca Scout is now performing a series of live performances across Europe and will conclude her tour at Bota By Night in Belgium this December.
