Maison Margiela and Christian Louboutin are joining forces for a highly anticipated capsule shoe collection, set to launch on March 12, 2025. This collaboration, first previewed at Maison Margiela's 2024 Artisanal show, unites the creative visions of John Galliano and Christian Louboutin. The collection, a dialogue between the two houses, is divided into two distinct lines: Maison Margiela by Christian Louboutin and Christian Louboutin by Maison Margiela.
These "twin capsules" explore both the shared DNA and the unique idiosyncrasies of each brand. Created by John Galliano and Christian Louboutin, whose professional relationship dates back to their early careers sharing more than runway moments.
Maison Margiela by Christian Louboutin reimagines the iconic Tabi shoe through Louboutin's signature lens of feminine curves and seductive silhouettes. Featuring the designer's unmistakable red sole, the capsule includes the crystal-encrusted Bridiela Una Strass pump, the sleek Loubiella stiletto, and the modern Marlougiela ballet flat. Each piece emphasizes a new, curvaceous split-toe design, a departure from traditional Tabi construction.
The collaboration embraces Margiela's deconstructivist philosophy, employing the iconic techniques to strip classic Louboutin designs down to their essential forms. Highlights include the Bilougiela 25 pointed-toe stiletto with its artfully peeled leather, the sculptural Martinloula pump draped in leather strands, and the dramatic Xrismarteen knee-high boot that plays with negative space. This capsule showcases the raw beauty of construction, revealing the soul of each shoe.
