From a star-studded live show to the dazzling powerhouse venue, Ghesquière marks a decade at the helm of Louis Vuitton with a deeply personal Fall/Winter 2024 collection. Presented in the Cour Carrée of the Louvre, the iconic location of Ghesquière's very first Louis Vuitton show in 2014, the collection serves as a retrospective of his creative journey, guided by memory and introspection.
Celebrating in grandeur, celebrities like Brigitte Macron, Emma Stone, Cate Blanchett, Saoirse Ronan, Sophie Turner, and Millie Bobby Brown, along with the 4,000 attendees (half of them employees of the house), gather to explore and immerse once again into the Louis Vuitton universe, one with a futuristic vibe. A network of cables connecting chandeliers to the walls symbolized a structure powered by a central light source, making the runway breathtaking from the start.
Following his own "North Star," Ghesquière traces a distinct path through fashion, drawing inspiration from his past works. Futuristic sportswear, such as windbreakers with curved zippers and silver flight suits, stood out alongside A-line leather jackets, sparkling skirts, and intricately embroidered pieces. The colour palette predominantly featured silver, navy blue, and white tones, accentuated by various fur accessories.
Signing the renewal of his contract for five more years, this collection marks a significant milestone in Ghesquière's creative journey, showcasing his ability to build an incredibly strong unit that reflects on the inside, with the support and love of his entire team, and on the outside, with the impressive alignment of big and influential names who applauded him in an emotional standing ovation.
