Being the first of four singles set for release over the next six months in preparation for her long-awaited debut EP release in March, Georgia Reed’s new single, Haunted, gives us clues about where the Australian-born artist’s musical project is headed. This is her first release since relocating permanently to the UK in 2019 and will be followed by a slew of singles over the coming months, which will allow us to learn more about the singer's creative universe.
“I wrote Haunted many years ago, at a time when my whole life had changed suddenly. I would play it acoustically at shows, but it wasn't until we started recording it that I realised it was probably my favourite song I’ve ever written,” she responds when asked about the starting point of her new song, which tackles a dynamic time in her life. Her latest release marks the beginning of a new stage in her career after having found a home in London and carved her niche as a songwriter with a penchant for dark, moody sounds and cryptic storytelling.
The track’s driving bass line pairs perfectly with her signature hazy vocals in Haunted, and the voice of velvet of the Western Australia-raised artist gives the song a very special energy that we will continue to connect with in the next few months her long-awaited releases until she presents her debut EP in March.
