Dries Van Noten has once again broken the mould with his latest mid-season capsule collection. The Belgian designer doesn't typically dabble into seasonal capsules or collaborations, it is something practically unheard of beyond his one-off Stüssy collaboration. The fashion legend has taken a leap of faith with his latest surprise offering – and it’s all about denim! The Spring/Summer 2023 denim capsule collection will be available from April 19th on Dries Van Noten's website, and physical stores.
The denim-centric capsule builds on a theme that Van Noten established over a decade ago in his Spring/Summer 2011 womenswear collection; the ombré treatment. A motif frequently used by Belgian painter Jef Verheyen. Taking the artisanal route, the capsule collection features bleach-dipped denim that exudes a rougher texture, to achieve this each piece of denim has been hand-treated to achieve the desired the high-contrast result. A tribute to Belgian painter, his graceful gradients of gently contrasting colours have been beautifully replicated in the ombré effect of the denim.
