With a campaign that makes us hope winter arrives as soon as possible, Dior Men presents its proposal for Fall/Winter 2024-2025, one filled with an elegant allure that results in a sharp but somehow comforting aesthetic that, thanks to its visual and conceptual keys, takes us to the world of dance, ballet, and everything it implies. Through the lenses of Alasdair McLellan and with the expertise of the mind behind everything, Kim Jones, the result can only be one of extreme taste, references to the past that result in accurate and relevant results for modern times, and the unmistakable savoir-faire that has always been the signature of the house.
In a collection that successfully fulfills both functional and aesthetic categories, it's very evident from the delicate lines that don't lose strength despite their subtlety that the inspiration behind it is a concept where beauty shares space with the bold and the sharp. Dance and ballet are very close to the heart of designer and artistic director Kim Jones, whose uncle was a dancer himself and a photographer of the figure that inspires the approach for this season: Rudolf Noureev. The Soviet dancer, well known not only for his art but also for his sleek and stylish looks, inspires the refined garments that equally refined models wear on the campaign.
Set in a dance studio, infused with an elegant yet natural color grading and with intentional poses that are meant to highlight not only the grace of the body but also how well Dior pieces complement said grace, each part of the pictorial captured by McLellan is reminiscent of the mesmerizing allure of ballet. The reinvention of classics such as the iconic Bar jacket adapted into its masculine iteration and paired with the Oblique suit, and the new cuts and shapes used in the rest of the tailored pieces blend with the softer garments like the second-skin ribbed knits, the wool zipped shorts, and the high socks worn with the Dior version of the ballet flats. The quintessential modern attire to feel like a twenty-first-century ballet dancer.
