This time around, Kim Jones has decided to present Dior Men's latest Spring/Summer 2023 collection in Windward Avenue, Venice Beach, as way to pay homage to the California, culture and aesthetic. This brings a sense of ease, modernity and reinvention to the French Maison, that is used to another way of living.
With the help of guest designer Eli Russell Linnetz, ERL's Creative Director, they have leaned into a new direction which they call Californian Couture, where they merge the brand's Parisian haute cauture and savoir-faire, seen in their tailoring precision and their exquisite fabrics, and California's more carefree attitude (seen in their surfer and skater lifestyle and laid-back way of life), which is reflected on garments like skate sneakers or slouchier silhouettes. This is how the merge contemporary and historical timelines, by revisiting the House's archives through the Bar Jacket and accessories.
