One of the most successful and avant-garde Spanish artists of the moment, Coco Capitán teams up with Camper to create Lost Sailor, their first collaboration inspired by the Mediterranean, the passion for the sea and nautical uniforms. The Lost Sailor shoe was presented at the Camper store in Montenapoleone (Milan) on April 11, in conjunction with Il Salone del Mobile. For the occasion, the Majorcan house has prepared a special event and installation that will surely provide some sea air to the Italian fashion capital.
Coco Capitán’s sensitivity, her referents and her way of capturing the beauty of everyday life has not only made her stand out in the world of photography but also in painting, poetry, video and the art field. If there is something that characterizes Coco's work, it is the connection with her origins and the inspiration she gathers from all over her native country. One of these elements is the sea and, specifically, the Majorcan coast. “When I think of Camper I think of Majorca, when I think of Majorca, I think of Tramuntana, when I think of Tramuntana I think of the sea surrounding the mountains. When I think of the sea, I think of sailors sailing away”, poetically writes Coco.
As a result of this long-term passion for the sea and its sailors, Coco Capitán has created a limited edition of Camper's iconic Brutus model. The artist has redecorated this famous silhouette with nautical details and personalized messages in her singular typography. Called Lost Sailor shoe, Captain combines contrasts of colour in blue and black with laces inspired by sailor knots and sail fabrics, putting her personal touch to a distinctive and unique model.
On the back of the shoe, a blue strip actually upcycled from the North Sails V-Series, gives character to the design, which mixes workwear with an arty twist. Each pair of Lost Sailor shoes comes in an embroidered Camper & Coco Capitán drawstring backpack, cut and handcrafted from the same asymmetric spinnaker.
The project has been celebrated and launched during the Salone del Mobile in Milan on April 11 with a special installation and event in the Camper’s Montenapoleone shop. It was pouring rain but it didn’t prevent Camper and Coco from bringing some Mediterranean feels to the Italian city by turning the atmosphere blue and letting the music do its magic in the hands of Francesco Chiamulera.
The limited edition collaboration is already available exclusively at the Camper store in Montenapoleone and also in its website. Don’t miss it!
