When it's hot and muggy out, the last thing we want to do is wear a full face of makeup that we're bound to sweat off. I usually stick to sunscreen, tinted lip balm, and a little eyeliner if I'm feeling fancy. But Chanel's new beauty release might prompt us to reconsider the bare-bones hot weather makeup philosophy. After all, summer is the season of butterflies, flowers, and fruits—vibrancy that could easily make its way onto our lips, eyes, and cheeks.
The collection, aptly titled Jardin Imaginaire, is audaciously lively. Creator Ammy Drammeh describes it as a "bridge between reality and fiction,"  inspired by fairy tales of technicolour, enchanted forests, and meadows. The hues of each item invite us to slip into that same reverie. While for the more makeup-averse of us, the bright colours might be intimidating, each product is buildable, so you can start soft and ramp up as much as you'd like.
The eyeshadow and contour pens come in orange, bronze, metallic pink, ultraviolet, baby blue, and soft green, with a creamy formula that's sure to melt seamlessly into warm skin. Blush-highlight combos in peach and berry are sure to keep you glowy and sunkissed, whether you're at the beach or frolicking in a rose garden. Don't forget about your nails! Sandal season means that your toes are on display, too. The shimmering nail polishes come in metallic green, pearlescent rose, and rich brown, each reminiscent of some aspect of a lush forest.
If Snow White and Ariel aren't enough, look to Lily-Rose Depp for some inspiration. She wears a smudged green eyeshadow on her lids, underlined by a cleaner (but still diffuse) purple on her water line. The rest of her face is peachy and natural, a perfect canvas to make the bold eye stand out. Now you have the perfect excuse to switch up your summer routine with a little swipe of peach, a dab of gold, and a brush of green.
