In the last few years, we’ve seen several initiatives where artists, more especially photographers, team up to raise funds for a good cause. This time around, it’s the California Picture Project that’s aiming to raise money to support wildfire recovery across Los Angeles. Through March 9th, a wide array of creatives including Nadia Lee Cohen, Martin Parr, Kyle Weeks, Elizaveta Porodina, Petra Collins, Kim Gordon, Gabriel Moses, Spike Jonze, Sofia Coppola, Torso, and Troye Sivan are selling 8x11” prints, whose 100% of net proceeds will benefit the California Community Foundation Wildfire Recovery Fund.
We’ve witnessed the harrowing destruction of the Californian city just a few weeks ago. The consequences are devastating for thousands of people who’ve lost their homes, their personal belongings, and even their lives. That’s why photographers, filmmakers, artists, and singers are getting together — to help those in need. Available for $150 each, these prints are a way for them to contribute with what they can: their art.
Fashion photography, portraits, still life, landscapes, documentary, film stills — you name it. You can get your hands on snapshots of people like Paris Hilton (by The Cobrasnake), METAL cover stars Sophie Thatcher (by Jason Renaud) and Lindsey Wixson (by Oliver Hadlee Pearch), Rick Owens (by Shadrinsky), Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning at the set of Elsewhere (by Sofia Coppola), Kylie Jenner (by Theo Liu), or Florence Welch (by Vincent Haycock). Also, self-portraits by Nadia Lee Cohen (together with Danny Trejo), John Yuyi, Moses Sumney, and Marie Tomanova.
If you’re more into fashion, you could consider buying prints from recognised artists like Hugo Comte, Alexandre Leese, Daniel Sannwald, Carlijn Jacobs, Gabriel Moses, Elizaveta Porodina, Mowalola, Tom Wood, Travys Owen, Luke Gilford, Le3ay, or James Bee. And there’s more, much more. So check the website out for a good cause (and good art).
