Roses are red, violets are blue… Forget violets, it’s time for roses (and roses only). The new Bimba y Palomo collection, a joint effort between independent Spanish designer Alejandro Gómez Palomo and the brand Bimba y Lola, is here to turn your wardrobe into a blooming garden with over-the-top metallic jewellery, handcrafted leather pieces, handmade knitwear, and floral prints. Showcased in the latest edition of New York Fashion Week, the collection is already available and is accompanied by a fun campaign shot by Grant James-Thomas on the streets of NYC.
Red, white, and bl…ack. Sorry, American folk, but the Bimba y Palomo collaborative collection doesn’t have much blue in it. On the contrary, it’s red, a colour that awakens the passion in us, that takes centre stage in the new pieces, from bags to dresses, to bouquet rings and shoes, jumpers, and leather jackets. It makes sense taking into account that they’ve taken roses as the common thread connecting the collection. You can find them in maximalist jewels like four-finger rings or a beautiful choker, a halter top with handmade flowers, or a highly original handbag that is, literally, a flower.
For the campaign, Bimba y Lola and Palomo Spain take to the streets of NYC. From the glamorous hall of the hotel where they held the runway show to the everyday life of subway users and even a hot dog stall, the group of models casually eat pretzels, get dressed, and stroll the new Bimba y Palomo packaging through the city’s lively streets. Florals for spring might not be groundbreaking, but this garden full of roses definitely is.
