Inspired by vintage ads in magazines, Balenciaga launches a new gift campaign especially focused on the upcoming festivities. It’s odd to think that a brand so focused on the future, new technologies, and shock value would find inspiration in decades past; but hey, that’s also a part of the Maison’s DNA: to keep us on our toes, always taking the least unexpected path to surprise us.
“Full circle. Linking heritage to the possibilities hereafter,” reads the copy below a bejewelled necklace chain. “The Balenciaga Hourglass Bag’s silhouette can be traced to a style of cinched waist that flares over the hips in an hourglass shape called Basque — after the region where Balenciaga originated,” explains another text below a sleek black handbag. “Put a bow on it,” says straight to the point the copy below The Holly Hair Bow. These are just some examples of the campaign, which puts handbags, sunglasses, shoes, and other accessories front and centre to focus on what matters: gifts.
