In a world of people who’re full of themselves, the latest Balenciaga drop pokes fun at celebrity culture by inviting their House ambassadors to wear vintage-inspired fanclub merchandise with their own images. So, in this latest series, we can see Isabelle Huppert, Nicole Kidman, Michelle Yeoh, Kim Kardashian, and PP Krit Amnuaydechkorn taking selfies while wearing t-shirts with their faces plastered all over them, which invites the audience to reflect on the obsession we have for ourselves as well as for others — especially when it comes to famous people.
Kim Kardashian made history when Rizzoli published her book, consisting of just selfies of herslef. At the time, many people vaticinated that it meant the end of high culture — a book is still the ultimate expression of intellectualism, even if many titles are just as bad as any bad movie or painting. And that fear wasn’t unfounded: today, many kids aim to be youtubers, tiktokers, and all sorts of influencers when they grow up. Celebrity culture is being pushed to extreme limits — and it doesn’t give signs to stop anytime soon.
So, Balenciaga, a brand that is able to navigate that fun line between irony, humour, and social commentary, is jumping on the train (well, they’ve been riding, and even driving that train for the past few years) with ther new Brand Ambassador Fan Club series. As part of the Fall 2025 collection, the House released a handful of t-shirts with people who want to be fangirling over some of their most recognisable ambassadors. They come in shrunk and boxy fits, as well as a ribbed tank top in red, white, black, and blue, and even replicate a permanent marker autograph to seal the deal.
