British painter Orlanda Broom and Grove Square Galleries introduce Rewild, a solo exhibition that showcases a series of colourful and rich works that reflect her connection with the environment and concerns for climate change. The series, on view until June 11 was created in lockdown and it differs from her past work due to its prismatic palette.
Broom attended the Winchester School of Art in Barcelona and obtained an MA in fine art. It was there that she gained fundamental skills to express herself as a professional artist. She has lived in London and currently resides in Hampshire where she creates transcendent paintings that vary from landscapes to abstract works. Rewild stems from her unique interpretation of the world and re-imagination of reality which results in an unrestrained paradise.
With a lack of human forms and the presence of vivid color, Broom highlights climate issues. Instead of centering people, the works are ornamented with plant forms inspired by her many travels and renewed sense of connection with nature in the last year. Flora and Fauna thrive in Broom’s exhibition. The presence of both luminous highlights and shadows onto wood and aluminum panels produce a saturated style. This creates lush worlds that spark fascination and depict an enthusiastic post-pandemic world.
