At this point, we are all aware of the situation in Ukraine. And although the geopolitical details are probably beyond our understanding, one thing is clear to us: we stand by the Ukrainian people. Our contributor Nino Sichinava, with family living in the country, describes it this way: “The whole world was shaken when a dark dome of war fell on Ukraine. It caused a big shock among people, especially the creative industry. This was the most horrible dawn in the history of independent Ukraine. Thousands of citizens saw how their native places were heavily bombarded by Russian missile bombs and fighter planes.” A sight no one ever should witness, much less, experience.
It is really distressing to see all the news and images of this nightmare and get the feeling that there is not much we can do for them, but that is not the case. Helping civilian refugees, medical and relief corps with donations to uncountable associations, preventing the spread of misinformation, or pressuring governments to take important and meaningful measures against Putin's offensive, there are many ways to contribute within our possibilities.
A good example within the art community is the case of SuperRare, an online marketplace that specialises in the collection and trading of single-edition digital artworks in the modality of NFTs. The artists on this platform are willing to support the ones who need it by donating their proceeds to different organisations that are working in favour of the victims of the conflict. In addition, SuperRare themselves will match these donations up to $50.000 by donating the 15% of the commission the artist pays to be featured.
Being part of the fashion, art, and culture community, it is important to comprehend and sympathise with the struggles our colleagues are going through, we can understand their needs and worries better than anyone and it is our responsibility to provide them with resources to make their lives and jobs as comfortable as possible, given the conditions. Sichinava spoke with Kyiv-based designer Anton Belinskiy and his words sum up their situation in a simple but rather chilling way: “Can I keep it brief and for some people strange. I want everyone just to pray for us wherever you are, whatever you think about this situation. Just pray for peace in the world.”
This is why the Triennale Milano is hosting today 9th of March at 6 pm a panel where Ukrainian artists, curators, historians, and philosophers will be able to give their points of view and reflections on the current situation, in order to find courses of action that can be taken on the upcoming International Exhibition. This way they can ensure the presence of the Ukrainian Pavillion on this exposition and the promotion of events around it such as meetings and conferences that can spark the conversation between people across the world.

Black Foreigners in Ukraine (BFU)
Asides from receiving donations, it provides useful resources, links, and information for the Black and African communities. It has raised nearly $15,000 for Black and African students and foreigners escaping Ukraine and seeking aid to survive in Ukraine.
Standing up for the LGBTQI+ community, they receive donations to help with shelter, food and basic needs as well as providing psychological and legal support to this collective in Ukraine.
