Don’t let the name fool you, because even if Wiederhoeft has spent the past five years mastering bridal weddings, now it presents us a ready-to-wear collection that’s going to put a spell on you. Full of big personalities, including the beautiful Teddy Quilivan, the pieces are an extension of the eccentricity portrayed on the FW 2022 Wiederhoeft Academy’s fashion film.
Bringing ballroom culture to a magical reimagining of mean girls - with a cup of shade towards a certain infamous British school of witchcraft and wizardry, the essence is to appropriate heteronormative spaces of school such as the gymnasium as queer-safe locations. Weiderhoeft sees himself as a young witch on the go, a definition that not only works for himself but the collection as well. The garments are thought of as whimsical, wearable and styled like a fantasy.

The young designer’s garments usually tend to follow special occasion dressing in corsets, dresses or skirts. These flamboyant pieces for the FW 2022 wardrobe remain secondary as outerwear and knitwear take the spotlight. What really captures our attention are the branded sweatshirts and street-chick checkered tops reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland’s deck of cards.

Knitwear certainly is a popular motif at the American label since it started appearing in the past three capsules producing everything knit, from accessories to everyday clothing. Still, the craftsmanship of the corsets and new look silhouettes are the staples we want to get our hands on.
