Hailing from South Africa, electronic music duo Stiff Pap fuses elements of kwaito, gqom, house and hip-hop in their explosive music. Ahead of their first EP, set to release early 2021, Jakinda and Ayema Problem share Ngomso, a new track in collaboration with Moonchild Sanelly, whose official video has been produced and directed by an all-female team based in Cape Town.
“This track is a representation of being young, Black and carefree in South Africa. Reminiscent of summer holidays at the beach soaking up some sun with the whole family,” the duo explains. They made Ngomoso three years ago, but they’ve been waiting for the perfect time to release it. Now that their music is gaining international praise and recognition as they’re leading a revolution in the country’s underground music scene, they found the timing fitting. “Whether we were in the gqom era or the current amapiano era, we never followed trends, we’ve always set our own.”
