Glamorous in glitter and neon with an underlying darkness, Give Me Pity! screens the unravelling of an all-singing all-dancing hostess, Sissy St. Claire (Sophie von Haselberg) whose debut screen performance is anything from tame. Laughter and music curdles into a bad trip in this much awaited TV special. Screen Daily’s Wendy Ide, at its Rotterdam film festival screening, wrote, “Part exercise in kitsch 1980s analogue nostalgia, part examination of ego-driven diva culture, part psychological horror, Give Me Pity! is a singular vision which could resonate with audiences with a taste for lurid cinematic mischief-making.”  Additionally the film appears on The 41 Most Anticipated Movies of 2023 by Esquire.
This ambitious special sees director Amanda Kramer sizing up to big names such as Chloe Zhao, Greta Gerwig, and Ari Aster with Kramer named one of Indiewire's Directors Who Will Define the Next Decade as their peer. Loaded with symbolism, and a lurking masked man, the show explores the bizarre phenomenon of the television specials by legendary divas, Give Me Pity goes full throttle. Melting through a markedly neon colour palette the programme disturbs and captivates those with a passion for horror. Give Me Pity!’s national US tour has its inception on February 16 in Los Angeles and concludes on March 3 in New York. Following these screenings, the film will be available on select digital platforms starting on March 7th.
