It’s no secret that Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri loves to merge high fashion with other creative or even scientific disciplines such as theatre, dance, literature or botany. For the Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2020 collection, the Italian Creative Director has asked Roman filmmaker Matteo Garrone to direct an exclusive video to present the intricate clothes that both she and her team have been working on these past months. For the first time, and as a result of the global health crisis, Dior is moving its regular physical presentation to the online world. You can watch the live stream here, starting at 2.30 pm (CET)!
Defined as “a fascinating, poetically fantastic universe that reinvents the Dior dream,” the film by Matteo Garrone is the first of its kind for the French Maison. After receiving much praise for movies like Gomorrah (2008), Reality (2012) and Dogman (2018), the Italian filmmaker was participating in many international film festivals this year with Pinocchio, his personal adaptation of the timeless children’s novel by Carlo Collodi – before they were all cancelled or postponed till next year. With such a successful, brilliant career, we’re very excited to discover how has he undertaken the task of creating a fashion film for one of the most prestigious fashion Houses in the world. If you’re curious too, tune in at 2.30 pm!
