Filmmaker and musician Cara Stricker has just released a new video and an ambient music album. With a vast previous experience in fashion films and music videos (she’s worked with Gucci, Kelsey Lu and Blood Orange, among others), her new piece, Formless, is a mix between both genres and stars photographer Nadia Lee Cohen, multi-medium artist and actress Ajani Russell, and model Sean Frank.
Born out of quarantine, the video was shot independently with no crew, pull focus or light, and is a sort of teaser for the album, which Stricker has just published on all streaming platforms. The result is a 9-track album of ambient music, meditative and even hypnotizing. “Formless interplays with what we can see and that what we can’t, seeking to deconstruct the idea of form and that which is beyond form,” reads the press release. “It ruminates on meditations and focuses on silence, timelessness, and existence beyond the self.”
