There is a sense of cosiness and comfort in Uma Wang’s latest Fall/Winter 2024 collection. Playing with oversized volumes, puffy structures, cocoon-like pieces, draping, and massive proportions, the Paris-based Chinese designer’s new offering is “the quest for less as a stream of memories,” as journalist Angelo Flaccavento explains in the brand’s press release. “The apparent severity that comes from remembrance of something distant, in space or time. Details are erased: what remains is the outline.”
Since founding her brand in 2009, Uma Wang (real name Wang Zhi) has been making waves in the industry. She’s been praised by BoF, Vogue Italia, the CFDA, and Forbes, among others, as someone who’s reshaping fashion thanks to her deep understanding of tailoring and the richness of her use of fabrics. Her F/W 2024 collection is no exception, as she once again proves that she can envelop the body in the dreamiest looks. This time, the designer keeps approaching clothing-making poetically, inspired by dreams, volumes, memory, and movement. Take a look at the beautiful pieces, photographed exclusively by Erwan Filidori.
