Shab
Catch Me If You Can

Shab is back with a new single, Catch Me If You Can, accompanied by a music video that takes us straight to the racetrack. After the success of Perfume (VIP Remix), which reached No. 11 on Billboard’s Dance chart, the Persian-American singer is keeping the pedal down. And this time, she's the one making the rules.
We've been following Shab's career since 2022, when we premiered the music video for Criss Cross on METAL. Four years later, after covering releases including Dance 'Til You're Free, we've seen her grow into an artist increasingly confident in her musical identity. And she seems to be enjoying every minute. “I'm done asking permission to be me. I know what I bring, and I'm not chasing anybody to prove it,” she says about her latest single, which she describes as cheeky, flirty and a little dangerous.
That attitude runs throughout the accompanying music video, directed by Éli Sokhn and produced by Badass Kid. Set at a go-kart racing venue, it turns competition into a playful game of seduction, with Shab taking control of the action. Racing-inspired outfits styled by Nadezda Vlasova, energetic choreography by Richy Jackson and a cast of dancers bring the concept to life. The visuals pick up on the song's references to speed and victory, with Shab challenging anyone who thinks they can keep up. The whole thing has that unapologetically theatrical quality we've come to associate with her videos.
Produced by Damon Sharpe and written alongside Bonnie McKee and JHart, Catch Me If You Can combines driving dance-pop beats with Persian-inspired percussion and an infectious chorus. It's another step in a career that has continued gaining international recognition, but Shab seems less interested in looking back than in enjoying where she is now. After all, she's made it pretty clear that she's not waiting for anyone to give her permission.
