Following her recent breakthrough on the U.S. Top 40 Pop Chart, Shab unveils Dance ‘Til You’re Free, a vibrant new single that pulses with both urgency and euphoria. Pulled from her second album One Suitcase, the track pairs glossy, synth-fuelled production with Shab’s unmistakable vocals, offering a rallying cry for liberation through movement.
Raised in Iran before building her life in the United States, Shab draws on her own experiences of defiance and resilience. The song channels the spirit of secret celebrations she once shared with her sisters, moments of joy carved out in the shadow of oppression. Its accompanying video blends cinematic elegance with political undercurrents, flowing fabrics, a regal crown, and choreography that transforms personal memory into a universal call for freedom.
Reflecting on the single, Shab shared: “During our time under the fundamentalist regime in Iran, my sisters and I would throw impromptu dance parties to forget our troubles and the oppressive world that surrounded us. This song is a memorial to that time but also a call to action for the oppressed everywhere.”
Working again with trusted collaborators Damon Sharpe and Eric Sanicola, Shab crafts a sound that is as ready for the dancefloor as it is charged with meaning. It’s the latest in a run of singles that merge addictive hooks with her commitment to storytelling, following the retro-tinged Lipstick, which also made its mark on U.S. pop radio.
As we mentioned in this article we published in METAL a few months ago, Shab’s creative vision is deeply linked to her personal history. Beyond her music, she has leveraged her growing platform to advocate for women’s rights and refugee causes, becoming an ambassador for the UK-based charity Choose Love. Her decision to donate all profits from One Suitcase to the organisation underlines the connection between her journey and her art, a journey that began when she arrived in America speaking only Farsi and German, working multiple jobs while learning English, and eventually stepping into the global pop arena.
