Two years after we last spoke when she was presenting her single Bull In A China Shop, which came with an announcement of a west coast tour with San Francisco-based Gloomy June, Party Nails now releases the music video Trigger Warning. The multifaceted singer-songwriter, artist, musician and producer takes us to a melancholic and nostalgic universe with her new audiovisual piece directed by Elinor Howells, which weaves between surrealism and emotional upheaval, blending dreamlike landscapes with introspective portraiture.
Party Nails, who debuted in 2015 on Neon Gold’s famed blog with Break and had her first tour in 2017, released her third album, Pillow Talk, a few months ago. “I’ve overworked myself yet again, and it’s bizarre to release an album in the throes of burnout, but art is nothing if not alive, merged with us, teaching us, saving us, reminding us of who we are,” the artist said in January 2025, a week before the release of the ten-track collection, a genre-bending, timeless yet forward-thinking album featuring an intoxicating mix of retro synth-wave, futuristic electro-pop, and lush indie rock.
The noir-electropop single Trigger Warning, whose music video has just been revealed, radiates with synthwave energy. The vintage-toned footage feels nostalgic and otherworldly, as if filtered through a hazy VHS tape or a childhood memory. The video narrates themes including escape, finding community, inner searching, transformation, and transcendence, featuring Fake Dad, Caelan Campbell, Nat Angst, Murielle Marra, and JT Hanna.
