After the glorious days in 2012 represented by the Olympic Games, London has not got cool-down. The fashion games this year was kicked off by the second season of LONDON COLLECTIONS: MEN, with the eclectic mix of designers from latest street wear to modern Savile Row tailorings. If you have a look at the amazing works by those designers who gave up the New Year's Holiday for their collections, you can immediately see, 2013 will be another exciting year for London.
London is always known for something new, and this time the newest young talent to watch was Craig Green at MAN show. The last year's Saint Martins star showed the accurate layering of monochromatic sportswear with face sculptures, and the result was something like new darkness of London.
This time for Autumn and Winter, some monochrome looks were quite strong and impressive. Lee Roach made it in his own reduction and repetition manner, while Alex Mattsson showed masculine world of street gangsters in the live presentation featuring rappers, Zebra Katz and Njena Reddd Foxxx.
Then Aitor Throup. His most anticipated first full ready-to-wear line entitled 'New Object Research' was finally launched, and the garments with logical approach and the outstanding level of perfection are definitely for modern men.
Still it is London, of course there are vibrant prints and colour combinations like modern art. Particularly, stripy linear motif was seen in many collections such as Jonathan Saunders and Christopher Shannon. Also the Divine jumper by James Long, and 'Lobster Spaceship' and 'Corpse Boquet' prints by Katie Eary were ones of the most eye-catching pieces.
Besides London is ready for the severe weather condition of winter, with colours and streetwear mind. Topman Design sent out warm-coloured puffy coats for young explorers, while California-born designer Shaun Samson was inspired by 'monsters' and 'ice' and fused them into youth culture references.
