This year, the Holidays collection celebrates the art of craftsmanship by working alongside the Kyoto-based ceramic studio, Suna Fujita whose hand-painted stories on ceramics now come to life as playful reincarnations ready-to-wear staples, signature bags, slippers, wallets, and accessories for Spring/Summer 2024. To celebrate the season in style, Loewe will transform De Bijenkorf’s iconic windows into a festive wonderland starting from November 29. Playful installations featuring Suna Fujita’s lemurs, pandas, penguins, mandragora root characters will transport you to a world of festive delight, offering a glimpse into the S/S 2024 pre-collection.
In a short documentary film, Suns Fujita founders, Shohei Fujita and Chisato Yamano, share their inspiration derived from natural landscapes, animals, and cherished memories. A standout piece of the collaboration – a deep-green Hammock bag adorned with a little boy sitting in a cloud-pruned tree, feeding a small yellow bird. Playful pandas climbing branches and leather marquetry-embellished otters will surely bring a smile to your face. The collection also features the softest toys in the form of a mandragora root and an otter. These delightful characters make appearances on polka-dot cardholders, mischievously swinging around the handle of a Hammock bag or adorning it as a lovable felt charm.
Inspired by the childlike joy emanating from Suna Fujita’s miniature worlds, Loewe demonstrates its commitment to social responsibility. As part of the collaboration, the Spanish house will donate a portion of the proceeds from every Loewe x Suna Fujita purchase to Save the Children’s Education in Emergencies programme. This initiative works towards providing safe and protective learning environments for children in humanitarian crisis situations worldwide.
In addition to the collaboration, the Holidays collection showcases high-waisted ready-to-wear silhouettes with exaggerated proportions, while bold colour combinations breathe new life into classic Argyle knits. Signature bags, including the exquisitely ruched Squeeze, arrive in soft leathers and captivating new hues. Accessories dazzle with revitalising colours, including inflated cat-eye sunglasses, puzzle fold charms, and a kaleidoscopic stack of soft mohair scarves. For those seeking a touch of sparkle, the Toy pump and Screen sunglasses are adorned with constellations of tiny crystals.
